[ At least they did make it, that's true. Though Hak was pushing them, and going at a pace that kept messing with his schedule on taking those doses from the tonics and everything. Which is why he's using this chance to get it done.

He wanted to point out how Hak had pushed himself too much with this, but he already knew better than that. ]

I'll see if there are any odd jobs I can get to cover for food and room for the night. There's usually something that my strength's handy for.

[Hak had indeed pushed himself too hard. His body ached, his back hurt, and everything was in pain, but he was determined. Even if being determined caused more pain than good.

He looked at Shizuo. With the town as it was, Hak couldn't find himself additional work. Omegas here were not allowed to do work that Hak was good at. Instead work that he was bad at. So Shizuo would be the source of income.]

[He leaned forward on his seat, breathing heavily.]

Yeah, you just work on recovery. If you keep this pace up, we're really gonna end up heading the rest of the way with you being carried.

[ Especially with how heavily you're breathing. Taking the last part of his round of doses, Shizuo puts the jars away and sets the bag with Hak. ]

I'm leaving the suppressants with you, cuz I don't know how other people will respond or if they'll go through my stuff while doing these things.

The hell we are.

[Which is why he is resting. He takes the bag and slowly moves back to sit up straight.]

Got it. Come back soon.

[ He won't be surprised if it does get to that point, however. At least he hasn't been nagging too much, or much at all. While the rare moment of what could be seen as a alpha trait comes through, Hak has essentially been free of having to worry about that. ]

Yeah, got it. You'll see me either when I get enough for lodging, or when it's time for the next dose. Whichever comes first.

[ At least he's got a unique kind of strength to help that first condition along. ]

[Hak just nods and gives a thumbs up to that. Whatever works. He starts to get comfortable again, rubbing the side of his belly as he waits for Shizuo to come back when he leaves. This is painful. But he's got no other options.]

[ Shizuo has a feeling that it's more painful to Hak's pride than anything else. Especially if the pain kicks and stays consistent enough where Shizuo's alpha instincts break through all the suppressants and have him carrying the pregnant omega to his destination, regardless of those wishes.

Eventually he does get back to the area with a 'purse' with the funds he's earned so far. ]

You were able to rest without any problems, yeah?

...More or less.

[He lets out a chuckle that shows he didn't really rest that well. Slowly, he moves to stand up, picking up the suppressants.]

Good day? How much did you get?

[Maybe they can make it so it can last them a while.]

Enough for now.

[ He'll take that bag with the suppressants and trade it with the money he's earned so far. ]

It'll get you a room while I continue working through the day to get something of a cushion for the next town or something. There's a couple more jobs that were offered while I'm here, so I'm gonna head back out to get those done.

...Just don't exhaust yourself.

[He does have an additional cushion if needed. He stands up.]

Did you get food?

[Because he will give you money if you didn't. And make you go eat.]

It's no more than I've done before.

[ The town he lived in really took advantage of the super strength alpha that was around, especially after all of those medicines shaped and limited the instincts they wanted and wanted to hide away.

Just don't go about doing the omega thing in making sure everyone's well taken care of with food and stuff. Not that he knows it's an omega thing. Or a pregnant omega thing. Right now he's interpreting the question as something else- a chore that he might've missed and was supposed to do. ]

You need me to go pick something up for you? I didn't grab anything because I don't know what you'd actually like.

[Hak doesn't understand that, he never did. He couldn't understand the desire of limiting an alpha.

Fortunately, Hak has enough alpha instincts in him to make sure the money is just for them.]

No. Did you eat?

[but, not enough to prevent mothering.]

[ Hak shouldn't understand the idea of a town full of betas sending out all the omegas and alphas elsewhere and keeping one to use as they pleased and needed, instead of a proper and balanced town. Then again, the coastal towns in the water tribe were pretty messed up.

Besides, Hak wanted to keep some part of Shizuo's alpha instincts under the medicines he kept with him. ]

Ah, that. I was gonna get something after this next job. I just had to get another dose and figured I'd pass on what I made so far.

[A proper and balanced town. Hak would like to live in one again. Of course, he made the stupid decision to leave his own.]

Yeah, no.

[He takes a bit of money out and gives it to him.]

Go eat first. Go. I'll be at the inn resting and eating.

[don't call him out on motherly instincts, Shizuo. Don't you dare.]

[ He won't call out how you're acting, but he'll look down at the money you shoved into his hand. At the money and then back up, saying absolutely nothing. Instead he takes the last of those bottles to put back in the bag and hand back over. ]

I should be back before it's too dark. Just remember that the jars are fragile when you set things down at the inn.

[If you don't open your mouth, he won't say anything about it.]

I'll be careful.

[He nods, and moves towards the inn. He gets some food and takes the only room.

Which is a small room, with a single paired futon. The only room a pregnant omega was probably allowed to have.]

Then I'll see you later.

[ Beggars couldn't be choosers, and smaller rooms meant that they could stretch out the money for a little longer. The trick was that, while he was able to find the inn without any problem, they didn't exactly trust some stranger asking about a pregnant omega that checked in.

Even if everything that he was had been suppressed, it probably came across as a little too predatory for them. Especially with how filthy Shizuo ended up being after the last of those jobs.

It's frustrating when you want to be angry, and that was just blocked from turning into something. ]

[One of the people who worked there went and checked on Hak to ask him about someone who was asking to see him. Thankfully, Hak was able to describe him quite easily.

Which allowed Shizuo to come into the room, where he could see Hak sitting in just a light robe that barely fit him.]

[ Barely fit still counted as fit, which was the important thing for someone that barely knew the pregnant man. He really wasn't ready to know that much about a practical stranger. ]

You settled okay while I was gone? Ah, right.

[ He'll get the last of the money he's earned to add to the purse of their current funds. ]

This is the last from those jobs. It should make things a little easier for the next location.

Yeah, that'll be fine, I think.

[He looks at their funds. Then pulls out his own and adds them all together.]

Hopefully you won't need to keep working.

That'll depend on how much some things cost.

[ Which he said when going into the bag of various suppressants he used. He was rationing them out the best he could, and some had to be taken more often than the others. Ones that weren't exactly sold in other towns.

Probably because they never heard of this weird concoction, or knew some of it used a small portion of some toxic substance. Except it worked, as far as he could tell. No one would be able to guess he was an alpha unless they saw him with his pants down. ]

It's still nothing compared to some of the things I used to have to do. It gives me something to do, as you don't seem to want anyone around when having to rest.

[ A tired Hak is a very cranky and unpleasant one to be around. ]

[Hak didn't watch. He didn't know how private all of that stuff was and he certainly didn't want to cause issues. Letting out a light sigh, he leaned back on the futon and looked up.]

...It's not really that. Just...

[It's still the alpha training in his body that doesn't want him to appear weak.]

...Want people to think I'm strong.

[Even fighting to the brink of exhaustion because he wants people to think he's strong.]

[ He didn't seem to care as to whether Hak watched, either. However he'd be able to hear how little was in a couple of the containers. Something he's not looking forward to. ]

Yeah, well that's stupid. You're not going to be around any of these people for them to think you're strong or weak. I don't care either way, and you'll be rid of me when I get you to where you want, so it's not like anyone that matters is going to see you resting.

[ And when he does get Hak to that place, it'd be time to... Shit. He's still got no idea. Even worse, he's not sure what the nearly empty ones were supposed to do. ]

I'm gonna have to try and get some of these done tomorrow. Otherwise you won't want me helping or even being near you.

[ Given how anti-alpha you seemed to be, Hak. ]

[He looks at Shizuo for a moment. No, he is right about that. About how Hak's alpha state of mind is definitely starting to cause problems here. No one cares, really. To them all, he looks and smells like an omega.]

No. I know you don't. I'm working on it.

[He shakes his head.]

Tell me what you need and I'll take care of it.

[Because if Shizuo is going to be doing the work, Hak should be at least able to help take care of him.]

[ Even more dangerously, Hak looked and smelled like an omega that had no scent of an alpha on him. Which is what he preferred, but there were going to be more times when someone tried to make an 'honest omega' out of Hak. Which wasn't fair, but he figured that was the problem with alpha instincts.

Having them suppressed his whole life, he couldn't really know. ]

It's, uh... These four.

[ He moves 4 of the containers over, of which only 1 seemed to be in a solid form. The others were liquid, as most of his medicines were. ]

Problem is, the solid and one of the liquids were possible for someone to make, but they refused in the last place. I don't know what's going to be said about the others.

[ They refused because it was more poison than medicine. He hasn't shared that part because he's been taking it for years. Obviously he's fine. ]

If you're getting it, I'll pick up a few more small jobs to offset the cost of them so we still have that cushion.
