Character Relations

They had arrived on the same day. While he doesn't completely understand why Yona gave him the name he did, Shizuo tries his best to live up to it. Because she's still just a kid, at least in his eyes, and also from another world, he's taken the role into one as a guardian or protector. He swore to keep the girl safe and to do his best. It's probably more than he should promise, given Shizuo's habit for feeling guilty over accidents and things he can't control. The fact that he feels bad for not pushing Yona about her nightmares (asking how she slept, but if she says fine then that's the end of it,) is probably the biggest and most dangerous risk. Everything else he's spoken about and admitted to, but this is likely to be the main cause of blight in the future. Now that there's more shinki in the temple, this is becoming less likely to be a running issue, though Shizuo may harbor guilt for it. The soon growing problem is that he's learning to hide his own 'problems' and putting on a convincing face around her. Eventually he will start feeling bad for the lies. ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ Shizuo knew about this guy before they had actually met, due to Kairi having mistaken him on June 26th. It was hard to believe until a customer on the Near Shore had pulled him to the bar, where Izumo had been working. It's strange, but aside from looks, there were too many similarities and coincidences for them to really ignore what stood between them. Their personalities matched up well enough that the two got along pretty easily, and they were able to survive Izumo staying over at Yona's temple for a few days. At this point, Shizuo works at Izumo's bar on the Near Shore and they train with Goten and some others. While they can't question or delve into the past, as time goes on it seems more likely, and easy to accept without questioning things further, that it's likely that they're brothers more than lookalikes. That said, he's come to really trust the guy. Also, it kinda sucks that Izumo has to pay for Shizuo's indiscretions just for looking like him. He and the bar did nothing to deserve what's happened so far. ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ Honestly, Goten seems like a really good kid with enough powers and abilities that he'll attract trouble more than cause it. Which is what Shizuo's decided after finding out that the reason why Izumo's temple had been destroyed was because Mikoto pushed Goten into using an ability he wasn't in full control of and wasn't comfortable with doing. It's really amazing how much Goten could do, though. That redhead (Gojyo) thought Shizuo was a superhero, but it was more believable that Goten was a child hero back in his world. It's really hard to keep up with him, especially when it comes to eating. The only real conflict here is that Goten's been upset after Shizuo said he'd never be able to use his full strength against the kid. Because he's a kid. This continues to be a thorn in the boy's side. ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ While he doesn't remember it (if he did, there were big concerns,) Shizuo always held people who went through rigorous training, to better themselves and get stronger, in extremely high esteem. They were always admirable. His 'type' was always older, or more accurately, capable women. Sharak was tough and didn't dance around things in the very beginning, and between looking like a war hero and telling him just how much work had went into being named a Sanzo, the guy had already admired her. While barely knowing her, Shizuo cared what she thought, which is why he asked for her help in understanding and controlling his raw power. He's recently learned just how intense that request was, and while he has to remind himself that he asked for her help while she's hitting him with things, she's still revered on a higher level than most. Even if she uses a gun. He doesn't get that, but whatever. As long as she doesn't shoot him. ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ To be absolutely clear, Hakkai has been nothing but helpful in providing answers and giving Shizuo an idea of where to go on whatever he's doing. Whether it was to try talking to other people, or drawing up a map of abandoned temples that would be good for training. For this, he trusts and believes that Hakkai's a good guy. After getting some tips of where to start with Sharak's training, however, there's a gut feeling saying that this guy has a weird and strange sense of humor. Like he knew exactly what was in store for this training with the monk, but because Shizuo never asked, there was no warning for the intensity. After that, Shizuo's going to try to remember to ask if there's anything else he should know or be prepared for (but not always expect a truthful answer.) Everyone has their quirks, right? Even when learning more about him, the impression stays the same. When having asked "your the type that helps out and is nice enough but also pisses people off a lot arent you?", Hakkai's response not only was that he wasn't the first to do so, but he's also lost count. Which probably says more than enough. ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ Shizuo gets that he should probably try to get along with the guy. Honestly, he's only met him the once, at the bar. And while it was annoying that he refused to actually answer anything, and even worse that he tried goading Shizuo into a fight, Shizuo could've let that slide. Though it would've left him being a pain in the ass. No, the reason why he gets this opinion is for pushing Goten into fighting with a power that he wasn't comfortable with and didn't know how to control. Using kids like that, especially when it leads to things they feel guilty over, is waaay too far. Things haven't exactly gotten better, after having met Mikoto when he was younger. Not with the look on his face when sitting over Shizuo (who was currently a severely injured little boy.) Shizuo has advised Izumo to speak to the guy before he's marked as a child predator. ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ Shizuo doesn't actually know Lenneths' name. Which lines up for her kind of character, who needs no more than to be what she is. Which is The Valkyrie. Of course this leads him to think, in trying to remember her name, is also something similar with a 'va' sound in the beginning. While they don't exactly have the same ideals- given that Shizuo is someone who hates violence (though accepts the fact that fighting is necessary in thier situation,) he manages to get along with her pretty well. Actually the conviction and confidence that she has is incredibly admirable to him. When Lenneth presented gauntlets that couldn't break, that wasn't really the only gift she had given. It came with a relief, something guaranteed that Shizuo never has to worry about breaking or ruining (as long as he takes care with maintaining the armor,) and this would also protect his hands from ayakashi, meaning he didn't have to worry the people around him. Lenneth considered what he said, honestly listened, and thought of a solution that both squashed and worked with the excuses/reasons he had for not picking a weapon. So while they'll probably always have this weird distance, not just due to station but with the kinds of personalities they are, Shizuo highly regards her. It's why he'll always carry and take care of the gauntlets, but will make sure that her request for mead is fulfilled at the bar. ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ It's strange. The helmet and clothes make Shizuo think that Celty's a biker at first, but she doesn't actually have any kind of vehicle right now. A lot of things have turned out in ways that couldn't be expected. From accidentally hitting her head off (turns out the helmet was empty! Which. Which was lucky,) it was a great way of learning just how easy it was for Shizuo to accept things that aren't quite 'normal.' Instead of focusing on what the woman lacked, it was a relief that this meant he didn't hurt her. Even more, the things that Celty could do with the shadows was really amazing, and had so much variety and natural control to it. It's funny. He tried to help out with the whole shinki introduction thing, and later he realized that Sharak was the woman's god. With her having shown up to their training session, no less! Shizuo's learning that it's incredibly easy to stay relaxed around Celty. Not because she's quiet- he didn't really need to keep a conversation going between them to feel at ease. The only reason he does is because the guy thinks that's what he should be doing. While he'd feel judged or pushed into doing other things, he'd trust Celty to hang around as he basked and relaxed out in the sun. In turn, he wouldn't mind keeping an eye out or spending his time if she needed something. ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ Despite not really knowing or having interacted with Naoto very often, the teenager left quite an impression. Being as intelligent and analytical as she was, Shizuo feels bad that he can't really be much help. Even after trying to make sure she stayed safe (as Naoto arrived the same day that a couple of bodies were found,) and trying to give a proper introduction, Shizuo's sure that it wasn't up to the standards someone like Naoto should get. Even when she's asking for specific information, the only answers he could provide had already come up ten-fold and there's not much more to add. He does want to make sure that she stays safe, however. There's a lot of promise there, and it's clear that she's already miles ahead of him in figuring the shinki stuff out. ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ Honestly, Shizuo knows more of Kairi, than the girl herself. She's one of the first people that gets recommended if you're trying to learn about shinki things, and was part of that PSA that was on the boards about ablutions and blight. Honestly, he couldn't really see her causing blight, much less doing anything that would lead to guilt in the first place. Which really isn't fair of him to think. Especially when she's been nothing but nice to him, and most people from what he could tell. What he does know is that she apparently trains very hard, in more than just borderlines, and has a lot of people that make sure she's taken care of. Actually, it's because of her that Shizuo even knew about Izumo, after having been mistaken for the guy when he first arrived. ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ They met at the training grounds, and didn't get very far before Hak decided they were done. Sometimes they clash, but he and Hak both have their lazy streaks, so it's shaky but also easy to get along with him at times. The only big thing is that it's obvious that Hak was very attached to Yona, from the beginning, and it seems like he takes things personally. Hak, there's no reason to get jealous when Yona's coerced into confiding with Shizuo. Seriously. ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ A lot of this is that Jae-Ha is often self-absorbed and seems to find it funny to act forward and use innuendo around Yona. Despite their positions and the fact that he's considerably older than her. Actually, he doesn't mind acting like that with anyone, or so it seems. Jae-Ha has shown that he can share personal and serious details about himself (ie: his leg) and that they can agree that things concerning Yona's safety and well-being is something to be serious about. Still, when there are antics, the guy is exhausting. ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ At first, there was only one meeting. Kija yelled at him, challenged his ability to being a good shinki/guardian, and Shizuo threw him into a pool. Then Kija got out and threw him into it right back. That was the extent, and for about a month, he didn't really come across the guy again. Until Yona needed help getting Shizuo under control for an ablution. That's how he apparently dislocated his shoulder or something? Maybe he was right about not being a suitable guardian. ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ It seems that the only time that Shizuo's come across Zeno is when he's making light of a situation or encouraging everyone to get drunk. Even his aid with the ablution was to pat Shizuo on the head, which was more confusing than anything else. So Shizuo has a hard time seeing where Zeno fits in this whole thing, as all of the others were able to be serious in some things. Look, Shizuo just doesn't appreciate him getting Yona drunk. ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ Shizuo doesn't know that he's met the guy on the boards before anywhere else. In fact, he barely remembered having met the guy, and how Niles hit on him then, when they crossed paths during one of those training camps. Shizuo's paranoia says that the guy keeps hitting on him to try and get his trust, or something, to start some kind of trouble. While it's honestly that Niles finds him hot, that just doesn't make sense to him. Which is why Izumo pointed that out and pretty much had to clear things up on both sides. Not just that Niles is thirsty for anyone that's hot, but that Shizuo's an idiot that can never see himself in a positive light. Who knows how it'll go. ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ — ⌧ |
